Enduring Love--A Reason To Go On

Post I

She walked along the river bank; she felt the chill evening breeze on her face. Then she realized how much she’s fond of this kind of weather which could make everyone feels the dense air and sees the leaves rustling with the direction of the wind. She looked up to the sky. ‘What a sad night! Where is the moon? Why is there only a few stars lighting the Earth?’ she thought.

Walking like that was one of the things she wants to do the most. Walking with someone who is close enough to have a heart to heart talk in such an atmosphere, there’s nothing that can give her pleasure more than that. Yet, she walked alone.

Recalling back the memory, she let out her breath on a sigh. She continued walking with no direction while her mind was somewhere else. All of a sudden, she stopped and stood still at a place as her eyes were fixed on something moving. Not something but someone—a couple. It’s not unusual to see couples walking around, leaning one’s head on other’s shoulder or even kissing. But that scene was different. They were in their sixties and still walking HAND-IN-HAND. They are beautiful, yes, they are.

No one could ever notice that there were tears in her eyes as she kept wandering around. Yet, she was clever enough that she looked upward not to let her tears rolling down her cheeks. She breathed softly; she sighed. Tears had been spilled from her eyes long enough that one could ever shed. There were nights when tears did not come out; that was the moment she feared the most.

Family issues, school and work pressure had been troubling her enough. She could tackle them accordingly. But when it came to the thing called ‘love’, she was not able to make it the way she desired. Love, oh love, how could you be so disastrous? How could she move on while the world is caving in?

A person came and gone. Why did that person give her so much to remember if he knew from the start that it would turn out this way? How come he gave her so many reasons to live but all of a sudden seize it all away? She was in great despair. She needed encouragement; she only needed a reason to go on. Sadly, it was so painful to realize that the only person who could make you feel fulfilled is the person who hurts you badly.

‘All I need is a reason to go on,’ she breathed.
